Listing Broker

The listing broker is the licensed real estate broker who has entered into a contract (listing agreement) with a homeowner to assist in the sale of their home for compensation (a fee). Most real estate brokers have affiliated salespeople working under their supervision that do most of the day to day marketing and negotiating regarding the sale of the home. It is not unusual for a homeowner to engage the services of the listing broker and never actually meet the broker him/herself. This practice usually occurs when the homeowner selects a real estate agent (salesperson) to work with and they are therefore automatically connected to the broker with whom the agent is affiliated. It is not unusual for an agent to have the brokers permission to enter into certain agreements on the brokers behalf. All homeowners have the right to meet with and discuss the sale of their home with the broker whose services they are engaging.
